Tarkine Forest Wines

Tarkine Forest Wines are made exclusively for Brennan's by Andrew Pirie, who is considered by many to be the forefather of Tasmanian wine. Our relationship with Andrew goes back 15 years, so we were excited when he agreed to create a collection just for us.

We knew we wanted a Pinot because of our long history of enjoying his great Pinots. In fact, Tasmania is known for its Pinot Noir quality due to similar cool-climate growing conditions as France's Burgundy region. A Riesling, another cool-climate wine, seemed the best choice for the white. We love Andrew's Riesling, but wanted ours to be a little sweeter than normal, and we love the results.

Why Tarkine Forest

We named these wines for a large temperate rainforest in northwest Tasmania (the winery is located in northeast Tasmania). The Tarkine contains about 400km of eucalypt forest and a number for wild rivers, exposed mountains, and coastal healthland. A truly gorgeous area. So, we choose a eucalypt tree for the label to represent the old beauty of Tasmania, while the wine represents the best of new Tasmania.

Riesling

Sweet, well-balanced and food-friendly

Nice golden, straw yellow color with big aromas of pears, apricots and apples. The aromas are echoed on the palate with just enough crisp acidity to make this a very well-balanced Riesling and extremely food-friendly wine.

Pinot Noir

An easy drinking Pinot Noir packed with cherry flavors

Aromas of red cherries and plums introduce this light-to-medium bodied Pinot. Red cherries are also found on the palate layered with dark fruit. Dry on the finish with tannins that hold the palate. An easy drinking Pinot.
