Sequoia Bing Cherries, Visit from the Carlson's & More
It's really looking like May around here. Our greenhouses are packed with planters, hanging baskets, geraniums, premium annuals, accent plants, and more. Here are just a few other signs that it's May at Brennan's!
Jumbo Sweet Sequoia Bings- the beginning of cherry season!
Jumbo, super sweet Bing cherries are in! They are a rich mahogany color and delicious. Fresh for your enjoyment from our friend and cherry grower extraordinaire, King Kyle, cherries are a sign that summer will soon be here.
Did you know? The sweet cherry is thought to have originated around 70 B.C in the area between the Black and Caspian Seas in Asia Minor. In the 1600's, English colonists finally brought cherries to North America. So, thank you to those colonists!
Besides eating out of hand, cherries are great in parfaits, pies, scones, muffins and sangria. Happy cherry eating!
Carlson Winery Tastings
Parker Carlson from Carlson Vineyards in Colorado will be visiting all of our stores this week. Lucky for us, Parker and his wife Mary love Wisconsin and come here every spring for a vacation. They kindly stop and visit us on the way to their fishing destination.
When not vacationing in Wisconsin, Parker is known for his award-winning Riesling, tasty fruit wines, including Peach, Plum, Cherry and his recently re-released Apricot & Pear-Apple. In these parts, he's quite famous for his Sweet Baby Red, Sweet Gewurztraminer and Unoaked Chardonnay. Click here for dates and times.
