It’s hard to believe that it has been over a  year since we opened our Oconomowoc store. We were thinking we should do something to celebrate. Since we all had such a great time at our grand opening, we figured why not do it all over again! I get all the email that goes to our general email address on our website. Everyday I wade through lots of spam  to find emails from our customers. We get all kinds of comments, requests and more, but none as cute as the one I got this morning from Angela Eisenhut, a customer at our Oconomowoc store. It’s so cute that I had to share it.

 A family tradition in my husbands family was always picking fresh free-stone nectarines from their tree in their backyard in California. Ever since the tree was removed from their yard it has been a quest of my husband’s to find the perfect nectarine. Brennans has it. He tried the Summer Fire nectarines and they are just like

the ones from the tree they used to pick. Since we could not let our 4 month old son watch us eat them without getting a taste, we let him suck the juice from part of one. March Groundbreaking

We are so excited to annouce that our new store in Oconomowoc will be opening this coming Thursday August 27.  Yes, that soon!  It’s come along way since the groundbreaking in March.  Brennan’s staffers are busy stocking the store with all the things you expect to find at a Brennan’s: artisanal cheese, specialty food, micro-brewed beer and exclusive micro-wines. Of course, our fresh fruit and vegetables will be arriving next week, just in time for the opening. You can count on Brennan’s famous Chin Drippin’ Peaches, plums, nectarines, juicy melons and jumbo Bing cherries.

For those who shop at our Brookfield store, you’ll see a lot of familiar faces and some new, too. More on that later.

In case you’re wondering where in Oconomowoc our new store is located, since the road we’re on isn’t yet on map! Here’s a little map to show where we are located. In simple terms, we’re at the intersection of Hwy 67 and Valley Road. From 94,  Exit 282 and go north.

Check out the lastest picture of our new Oconomowoc store! Things are moving quickly. We could actually be open in one month. We don’t have a set date for opening, but looks like it will be between August 17 and August 31.

Oconomowoc store on 7-19

When I was there the other day, the tile was laid in the wine/cheese room. Cheese and produce coolers had been delivered. Landscapers were there (you can see their handwork in the picuture). Painters were working on the dock area. All signs that we will be in there setting up soon! Keep posted for new store updates…

Yikes! It’s July. We find ourselves asking, “What the heck happened to June?” Nonetheless, the work must go on, and it has at the new Oconomowoc store site. It looks more and more like a Brennan’s store everyday. We still don’t have a firm date for opening, but it’s looking more like somewhere between August 17 and  August 31. We will let you know as soon as we have a firm date for the Grand Opening!

Meanwhile, we are busy doing all the behind the scenes stuff to get the store just right. Shelving is being made, layouts are being planned and product is on the way. It’s shocking to be ordering all the stuff that makes Brennan’s– Brennan’s for the OC. ( I’m trying to get the store to be nicknamed the “the OC” because typing Oconomowoc is like Mississippi,  just with “o’s”. Hoping this will catch on!)

Things are continuing to move along at the site for the new Oconomowoc store. Can’t you just picture the greenhouse full of plants and the garage doors wide open? It will be finished before we know it! We will have a firm date for opening and will post it as soon as we can.

Here is a picture of progress on our new store in Oconomowoc as of yesterday. Things are really moving along. It is starting to look like a Brennan’s! We still don’t have a set date for opening, but we will post it here as soon as we do.

Oconomowoc Store on 4/29/09

We’ve been getting a lot of emails and calls from people interested in learning more about the store and in potential employment. Thank you! We’re working on getting an employment tab on our site. For now, all Oconomowoc applications are being handled at our Brookfield store. Please fill out an application there or drop of your resume, and ask for Dennis.

Wednesday was the official groundbreaking for our new store in Oconomowoc, a well-attended event! Besides Brennan’s team members, Skip Brennan and the Brennan’s family (just some!), representatives from MSI General (the designer and builder) and Oconomowoc Mayor Maury Sullivan, to name a few, were on hand.

We never thought that Brennan’s would have papparazzi, but there were some members of the press. A camera team from Fox 6 Milwaukee was there and ran a fantastic story on the groundbreaking. In addition, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel wrote a great article, and we got a shout out from the Wisconsin State Journal.
